I have experienced just the opposite reaction from a well known FAI flyer and judge. He heard my sticks clang as they were released and reverberated against the detent at center...more than once.....He said, once I release the sticks, I instantaneously have no more control of the plane.Suppose...He said... you need a correction on wings level ...now you have to find the sticks again and may introduce other unwanted movements in doing so. Every time he judged me he reminded me about it,so I just learned not to release the sticks.I still do sometimes from old habits, but the snaps have better follow thru now.
Clanging sticks in front of the right judge might not be so humorous.
Da judge will be at the Nats.

Do we need to make the sticks / springs loud for judges just like some judges ask for the pilot's caller to speak loud enough for them to hear?
... and so we know, what's the accepted '10' stick sound for a snap? the squeek of all the springs being stretched at the almost but not exactly the same time, or just the 'boing' as the stick is released to re-center at the end?
Guess the guys with the 14channel Brand 'F' TXs will have the advantage here since they can record and playback sounds as needed...
exiting...

Yeah, what are they supposed to sound like anyway? Mine are always quiet. Am I doing something wrong?

We need descriptive language that is widely understood. We judge by the rule book and not what is widely accepted. If someone is judging by what they understand is a snap and not what the rule book stands, then they be a bad judge. I have seen this many times, we had a gentlemen that judged snaps partially be what he heard from the sticks, instead of what he saw.
