Ed: I picked up a used GMC Safari a little over a year ago, and have
been very happy with it. It is heavy duty and "rides like a truck". I am
getting nearly 20 mpg, but that goes down to 13 when I tow the 3000#
camper. They are available in 2 or 4 wheel drive and there are a lot of
"conversions" with high tops and more creature comforts. I picked up a
"plain Jane" just for hauling planes and getting to contests, I can
easily get 2 ships in the back without removing the middle seat. I have
removed the 3rd seat.
Good luck! I know what you are going thru!

Time to replace another set of wheels here. I've been doing the Dodge
mini-van thing for a long while now. It's the Devil that I know anyway.
Windstars - forget it - been there, still doing it, glad the other half
drives it. Any recommendations on a solid & reliable van? Thinking
about the Chevy Uplander, trying hard to stay American, but it gets
harder to justify every time I go out looking. I really want something
that holds together.
Thanks
Ed
