Good points Mark.
I think Lance V. had many discussions about this as the DVP for D6 and they seemed to come to the conclusion that districting by center of activity was the way to go for the membership. This is clearly for the benefit of the flyers and not the organization of AMA or NSRCA. But I clearly see your point about aligning with the AMA in respect to the political issues.
Do like we did here and morf district 63 into D6.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] District Realignment with AMA - Was redistricting
Getting away from the district champ discussion for a sec, I wanted to make a quick comment on the subject of district realignment regarding AMA districts.
I'm personally all in favor of not worrying toooo much about which district I compete in.I got to the contests that maximize my enjoyment.lots of factors enter into that including drive time, attendance, flying site, etc.
To me, the only "redistricting" that would have any real merit, would be to realign our districts with the AMA districts. It doesn't really serve ANY value to "joe" pattern flyer to do this. But it does help out a number of administrative issues when working with the AMA. Most selfishly, is that I'm on the contest board for AMA district 3 and I live/fly primarily in NSRCA District 4. So the "input" that I get from the pattern community on how to vote.I sort of have to filter to determine what is coming from my "constituents" and what is from AMA District 6 or elsewhere. Not to mention I have to make a pretty concerted effort to solicit info from the eastern regions of District 3.
Re-labeling everything doesn't really change that. But it paints a clearer picture of who represents who and eliminates some confusion.
All that being said.Long live District 4.5 J
