[NSRCA-discussion] Coloring A Canopy

Scott,
It all depends on the type of plastic the canopy is made of.
If it is made of PET-E (Polycarbonate) forget about trying to tint
it with the "Rit" clothes dye. It will look like that it took some tint
at first, but the tint wont last.
The Testors and Pactra window tints are a bit tricky to get a good
even coloring. You have to heat the cans in hot water to keep the
pressure up when spraying to avoid getting heavy droplets, which
will make a mess.
The best that worked for me is to get some clear epoxy paint and
add the color that you want in very small quantities (one drop at the time).
Start spraying with light coats and increase the number of coats
sprayed to achieve the darkness of the tint you want.
Next you can also use one of the tints in cans. Empty the contents
of the can into a glass jar. Use part of it to mix with the appropriate
thinner (should say on the can) and spray using your Air Brush
Spraygun. Again start with light coats and increase until desired
tint is achieved.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] Coloring A Canopy
What's the best way to paint a clear plastic canopy?? I'm going for a
somewhat see-through amber brown color, if that makes sense. I've heard good
things about dying it also. What's my best bet??
Thanks!
Scott
