I wish I could find a picture but...
I believe the prototype of the FW-190 had an oversized spinner that was to 
streamline the cylinders of the radial engine.  It had "vanes" or fan blades 
cut in to it.
I know I have seen a good head-on in-flight picture of it but couldn't find 
it on the web.
They soon abandoned the concept because of...overheating.
