I was aware that Ray had been sick for quite a while, however the times I saw him this year he was so cheerful and energetic that I thought maybe he'd overcome his illness. Ray always greeted me with a big smile, kind words and fun joking. In Nederland this year he was even very inquisitive about the latest technologies in my plane.

I am very saddened and surprised to hear of Ray's passing. I feel it's a true blessing that even through his illness he was still able to participate in the hobby he loved so much which in turn enriched our life's with his happiness and loving spirit.

My condolences go out to Ray's family and loved ones.

I would like to inform all the guy's in pattern that we have lost one of our own.
This morning one of my best friends Ray Rhodes passed away. Ray was one of the founding members of the Mid-County R/C Club, and competed in many local pattern contests. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was found this morning by a neighbor sitting in his favorite chair on his patio where he went every morning to enjoy his morning coffee and cigar. As soon as I have more information I will post it here.
