I have also used the Sony battery. It is nice to have a spare in my
transmitter box. One time I went to fly and didn't check the battery.
Probably 2 or 3 seconds after breaking ground first flight of the day, this
loud alarm goes off. Non stop beeping. Quickly land the plane (less than
perfect landing and I wasn't going around again) Turns out the battery was
at 25% I think. The second pack allowed me to continue flying.
I have also changed the springs. I like Tony at Radio South but I would
recommend the futaba heavy springs available from Tower for under $3. They
are bent better than the ones Tony sells and not as stiff. Sort of between
stock and his. The ends are bent better to make installation easier. I
would say similar in complexity to the 9Z.
