[NSRCA-discussion] 14mz questions

I have also used the Sony battery. It is nice to have a spare in my
transmitter box. One time I went to fly and didn't check the battery.
Probably 2 or 3 seconds after breaking ground first flight of the day, this
loud alarm goes off. Non stop beeping. Quickly land the plane (less than
perfect landing and I wasn't going around again) Turns out the battery was
at 25% I think. The second pack allowed me to continue flying.

I have also changed the springs. I like Tony at Radio South but I would
recommend the futaba heavy springs available from Tower for under $3. They
are bent better than the ones Tony sells and not as stiff. Sort of between
stock and his. The ends are bent better to make installation easier. I
would say similar in complexity to the 9Z.

Ed

1. I have used the DSC with the cord plugged into the B/C slot in the
receiver, and I assume one would have to use a Y-harness for the ability to
use it once mounted in the plane after set up. The 5014DPS receiver doesn't
have a separate slot for the DPS harness...

2. Yes the other charger is the CR-2500, which is 12V....

3. I can't help ya there... I ordered mine with the stiff springs

4. So far, I haven't found another source for the battery, other than
Futaba.... Believe me, I've looked a lot!!! I guess I should have believed
what I read... "This battery is only available from Futaba".

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] 14mz questions

Just received my 14MZ and have a few questions.

1. Does the fuse mount DSC receptacle that came with the 9Z series radios
work on the 14MZ ??
2. To charge the TX battery in the TX, does it require a different charger
?? It appears so.
3. Has anyone replaced the stick springs themselves ?? Is it easier or
harder than the 9Z ??
4. The TX battery, is there anything else available commercially or do I
need to buy a spare from Futaba ??

TIA...Ed M.
