I'm not sure I follow here.  I can understand the benefits of opto
isolating the RX throttle signal, keeping the RF radiating/receiving
wires short, and keeping the RX itself farther away from RF sources, but
if you are powering the RX with the ESC aren't you still susceptible to
the RX ground noise?

***Disclaimer - I know just enough about electronics to be dangerous and
my largest electric setups are 2C 450mAh & CC phoenix 10s so this
problem isn't affecting me.

What about using two pieces of ignition shielding - one to contain the
motor wires and a separate one to contain the BEC/servo lead from the
ESC?
