[NSRCA-discussion] Electric/Glow Pros and Cons

I had 6 packs at the Nats, 4 of them had between 100-110 cycles, 2 of
them had 30 cycles.....I didnt pick or choose, they all flew a round
here and there during the contest. In fact I flew my oldest set (built
June 5 of last year) during the Finals.

There is no discernable performance difference in the packs while
flying. All of them have been abused somewhat (ask Dave L what I do to
my batteries ;) )....sat over winter at a wide variety of charge
levels. They are the same packs I flew in France last summer at the WC's.

All in all I think they have been pretty solid, I dont think I have done
anything special to them to prolong life. Although I will guess that
the failure will be abrupt and could come at any time now....so I wont
hazard a guess as to how long I think they will last. I think its been
calculated before around 150-200 cycles to break even compared to a
160DZ on 30%. Thats with $600 give or take packs.

Flying in the rain....I have not had a problem, and I would be much more
concerned about my Tx getting wet than my motor, or other components in
the plane.
