[NSRCA-discussion] Mintor 1.70 Question

Hi Tim,
I found the text for that article still on my computer ..."The factory specification for these is 4.6 N-M or 3 lb-ft of torque. If you must disassemble the engine and do not have a torque wrench in this range, then limit yourself to grabbing an "L"-shaped Allen wrench by the short end and using only your thumb and forefinger." If you dissassemble the engine and see uneven scuffing on the pistonn skirt then that's the problem. Loosen things up, run rich for a while, and see what happens. I discovered this on my own, and then contacted the factory, to get a spec, afterwards.

Forget the pump, maybe even set it back to stock. Shorten the pipe a bunch. If the engine transitions from both idle and mid-throttle, learn to deal with the touchy needle.

Dean,

I can't really fatten the mid-range much more. I'm pretty much all the way rich on the screw already, which is very odd for this engine I think. As for the pipe, I'm at the distance Lance recommends for this pipe/engine combination, but I am little longer in an attempt to avoid the touchy needle of a pipe on the edge. Perhaps I should shorten it a bit?

The engine was disassembled to install the updated con rod last fall. I don't actually recall if I separated the cylinder from the crank, but I suspect that I did.

Does anyone have access to the MA article Dean refers to for the torque specs?
