Hi All,
Dave, Do you mean the singing brake?
I rather like that sound. The shame was that neither my AXI nor my Neu would make that noise obn a Castle HV85.

later,
Dean

The Brake feature that you have is only used in Pylon-ish gliders, it's the climb and glide, folding prop (maybe F4J) event. It shouldn't be on in our case cause it does nothing but stop the prop, doesn't give any braking effect. I use the cut on approach (no brake) just so I didn't ding the prop, which didn't always work anyway.

ATV's only 100%
I make sure that my idle was always preset (I chose 1/2 trim) and throttle cut on BEFORE connecting the batteries and powering on. This allowed me to always have the same start-up and cut every flight. If you keep plugging in and turning on without bringing your idle down, eventually you will run out of idle.

Thanks Jason. Seems a little odd that it should behave that way. If one is using the brake and the prop stops spinning you might not be able to restart it.

You are using a cut switch for landing. After touching down or on approach?

Stuart

Pretty much so. I use a throttle cut switch on both comp and non-comp (non is just for landing) so I don't have to adjust the trim after I set my idle. The Brake should only be set if you are going to do some glide racing and don't want the prop to windmill. It's unnecessary wear and tear on the gearbox. Let it freewheel.

While playing with the brake function on my Hacker C50 / 90 Acro controller (non comp model) I noticed that if you idle real low and then bring the trim down a click or two and allow the motor to come to a stop that you can not start it again unless you bring the trim all the way down. I am guessing that it has to see the initialization point again. In normal flight the prop will free wheel and this would probably not occur but if the brake is on and the prop stops you can not restart it unless you play with the trim as above with the throttle fully down.

Is this a normal behavior?

Thanks

Stuart Chale
