Randy,

What is the RTF weight w/o fuel?
I got couple of 120AX w/o muffler at store for Pattern purpose.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] test flight of Venus 2 with OS120AX

What a nice combination. I am surprised how well this combination flies considering the smaller size of the model.

The OS120AX is a sweet engine. OS is calling to run it rich for 5 flights before really leaning it out. I ran it rich enough to have a visible exhast trail which I normally do not do for a 2 stroke. I am using the 15X11 APC from my YS110 for the break in prop. This prop is in the middle of the recommended prop range. This engine has a lot of power even using the stock muffler. Once I can lean out the engine, I think I will try a 16X10 APC which is the prop I ran on my YS140FZ.

The Venus 2 looks nice. The covering scheme is the same as the Venus40. I basiclly assembled the model per the directions with the exception that I glassed the center section of the wing after assembling it. I used the stock hardware and put Fut 9202 servos in it, as I had a plane full of them sitting in the parts bin. I was very surprised the model flies very well. It seems ti have a very small amount of pitch to the canopy in knife edge. It flies a lot like the runaround I used to have, maybe a little better. My runaround had a tendence for the nose to start hunting when you slowed down the plane. I have not seen the tendence with the Venus 2. Vertical is sufficient with the OS120AX which means it will go straight up until it runs out of fuel.

A local club member watching the first flight, commented that he was thinking of trying pattern and was going to go order a Venus2. Thats a good idea.

Randy
