I'd like to invite all pattern fliers to the first annual SPARKS
Pattern
Contest to take place on the dates of the cancelled LARKS
contest
(Sulphur, La).
Event Details:
Contest: Sparks Pattern Contest
Contest Director: Mark Hunt
Dates: October 22 & 23, 2005
Details: All AMA classes and FAI will be flown with trophies
awarded to
3rd place. SPARKS field is located in NW Houston. SPARKS has a
grass
runway, clear over flight, and plenty of covered area with
tables.
SPARKS is a morning field (facing West). An official contest
flyer with
details and direction will be available online and via e-mail
soon.
For a little background, all season, we've been discussing the
fact that
the annual LARKS contest in October was not going to be held
this year.
The buzz at the contests we've attended this year and on the
mailing
list has indicated a strong desire from area fliers to have a
contest in
October. With this in mind, SPARKS members, Myself, Jim
Sheffield, Glen
Watson, and Mark Hunt have worked to put together this event.
The first
step in the process was a pitch to the SPARKS club for hosting
the event
at a club meeting last night and the club voted whole-heartedly
in favor
of hosting it! We will be working through the rest of September
into
October making ready for this event and are looking forward to
seeing
you guys in October!
Thanks
Richard Lewis
