Vincente:
Looks like the ZDZ 40 is a bit lighter, at 3.15 with ignition.

Thanks
Ed

  Ed,

I friend is using the ZDZ 40 with good results. I am not sure if he is monitoring the list now. He has been flying the Abbra. He uses a carbon pipe (ES) and is working well. The airframe needs to be light to meet the 11 lbs. and you will need to be careful with the installation to make sure you keep the weight down. However, it is very possible to be below 11 lbs with the ZDZ 40. I am not sure about the ZDZ 50 in regard weight and dimensions. The Abbra was design around the ZDZ 40. The only detail that I don't like (besides the weight penalty) is the vibration level. He is using a soft mount that was design specifically for the Abbra. However, I think does not have enough rubber to isolate the engine from the airframe. I think would make sense to check with Mr. Merle Hyde. I think Mr. Hyde has been making a soft mounts for the ZDZ 40 engine.

Has anyone looked at or tried this engine yet? See: http://www.rcshowcase.com/html/engines/zdz50.html

The weight with ignition of 3.37 lbs looks really good for a 2C gas engine. That's without a battery ofcourse, but it's still pretty good. It's a 48.5cc design, with recommended prop sizes (non-pattern use of course) in the 2B 20x12 range and an RPM upper range of 7800. Those are for stock muffler setups no doubt.
