Bad Rules Proposal

Matt,
That was part of the problem last year. We had people judging multiple
rounds in the finals. It's really sad though that we can't find 15 people
who are willing judge the masters finals. This year is going to be even
more difficult with Intermediate and Advanced carrying over until Thursday.

Arch,
I really understand the dilemma you suggest regarding a judge that drops
zeroes or 10's and that he or she could heavily influence the Finals
outcome.
We have tried hard in the near past Nats to fill the chairs with competent
judges who try hard not to play that game. But I will tell you, it isn't a
trivial task, especially regarding the Masters Finals. Most potential
candidates who are asked, would just rather witness the F3A Final and bow
out.
Ideally we want a large pool of ranked judges available at any one Nats, to
choose 70-80% of the Finals judges from. Also ideally, the balance of the
chairs should be filled by competent but unranked judges, such that more
people get Finals exposure and learn from the veterans. That's theory.
Reality may have been a bit different than that.
regards,
