Thanks Eric. OS160 is still a great engine even if you need to add a reg/pump and 3 blade prop selection is limited.

Before you all leap out and spend a bunch of money on an OS pump for your OS 1.60 here is what I found out while experimenting with the OS 1.60's.

First of all, you cannot buy the pump separately. It comes installed on the 1.40 back plate.approx $150.

Secondly, the standard OS 1.60 carb did not like the OS pump anywhere near as much as it liked the Cline regulator. (Other 1.60 users swear by the Perry). Either way the OS pump produced too much fuel for the OS 1.60 carb.

I spent a lot of time working on the pump in the backplate with the std carb. Tried twin pug heads etc. Still could not get a good transition. If I leaned the pump for a good transition then the engine would go lean in the verticals. I finally had enough of this and went to the OS mix carb (the one that is sadly not available).

You, (or at least I, could not) cannot get the std carb to work well with a pipe when the fuel is supplied from an OS 1.40 pump. I did get it to work well with a 1.40 RX carb. This carb is designed for the pump but needs to be drilled and tapped to take 3.5-mm screws to hold it in place.

The Cline will get you much better results for around $40. (Or Perry if you prefer) and you can use your existing.

  Regards,

  Eric.

    Gentlemen

Yes, he does make them available to those that want them. They are machined from billet stock, you will however have to supply your own pump. I think Tower has them at a reasonable price? There are no carby mods neccessary. I have mentioned this about two years ago, maybe thats where Eric got the idea?

If people would like one, I believe he charges about $100 AUS for them, that works out about 75 US. Not cheap-but speaking as a YS man-even I have to say his set up is sweet.

If anyone wants his details, contact me off-line and I will provide you with his e-mail address- so you can speak to the man himself. I am actually doing a section in my column in our next APA newsletter on his set-up.

Dunno why OS themselves has not done so either.

Does he make them to sell? If so, where and how can I purchase one. Eric Henderson has that set-up and it is really sweet.
