[SPAM] RE: Take Off & Landing "Reality of a Contest"

Arch,

Although I may agree with you in theory, I struggled with making that call
for my contest. I decided that since I know some people will be attending to
get ready for the NATS, I wanted to provide them with the opportunity to
practice the new rules that would most certainly apply at the NATS.

It did get very interesting. Throughout the contest many seasoned pilots did
not call TO or Landings start or complete. There was one well seasoned pilot
that called TO complete at 6 feet. He most likely would have been zeroed at
the NATS as that would have been the correct score per the rule book. It was
comical, but a big eye opener for all.

Have to agree with Jim here. This would be the VERY simple thing to do.
Just state this at the beginning of a contest and be done with it. Amazing
how such a simple question has been drug out for 10 days with no real
answer.

Larry
I don't see what is wrong or needs to be changed from the old way of ----
calling take-off complete at the altitude of 6 ft or 2 meters. Or calling
landing beginning at 6ft or 2 meters. Why confuse everybody with something
to do between takeoff complete and entry to the box and the exit box call
and landing. It is the FAI procedure that requires the takeoff sequence.. We
don't need a sequence. It wastes time and gives the judges more work, when it
has no function.
It is simple, takeoff complete at 2 meters or 6ft and enter the box. Exit
box and landing beginning at 2 meters or 6ft.
I don't understand how this got so confusing when it was so simple.
