Bob,
The 1.4 rear bearing doesn't get enough lubrication. I trashed a brand new
stainless bearing two seasons ago in 4 flights. Felt like it had gravel in
the bearings. Went home, took it out, and it looked like it had a whole
season's worth of rust on it. Magnification revealed that it was actually
burnt oil. Put in the sealed bearing and have at least 40 gallons of fuel
through it and still running strong. Bearing feels as good as the day I put
it in. I don't know if the lack of lube is caused by the full disk
counterweight on the crank or if the tuned pipe has some sort of scavenging
effect on the crankcase. Don't care anymore because it runs great and the
bearings are lasting longer than any engine I've ever had.

Verne
