And did you suddenly start getting a lot more spam?  Often people of poor
moral character will confirm email addresses that way to add you to their
email lists. You might find more drug advertising and physical enhancement
offer emails in your future...

I personally would never confirm an email like that unless I KNEW exactly
who sent it asking for that confirmation.
