I remember seeing that someone mentioning the use of 1/8" round ply inside
the firewall (backside) mostly using Hyde type mounts.

Subject: Dowels in carbon/balsa end grain firewall?

The new plane's firewall is 1/4 endgrain / carbon - is it necessary to
install dowels in the firewall where the motor mount bolts go to prevent
crushing?

Thanks -
