Good point Ron and thanks,
I thought that we had put in a change to advancement back in the 2002 cycle. I just checked and it is in 8.2.3. on page 70. of the new rules book.
I also read that the rule book says that "each pattern contestant is responsible for maintaining an accurate record of his own classification points"
So it's an honor system, so what's the problem again?
Eric.

Subject: Re: Advancement Rules
The last NSRCA Survey had 12 (a dozen!) questions on various facets of
the Advancement system. On the question, should the Advancement system
be eliminated, the response was 94 votes yes, 90 no, a near tie. NSRCA appropriately did not write a proposal to eliminate the advancement system.
(A proposal to eliminate the system was submitted outside of NSRCA, which was voted out by the AMA Board)
NSRCA did write a proposal to count advancement points only within a 4 year slidding window, which was voted in by the AMA Board. It's intended effect may fix most of the "forcing up" of pilots not winning, but regularly competeting.
I think we need to leave an Advancement system of some sort in place. It
is a foundation for personal decisions and peer pressure to continue to be effective in getting "Move Ups" where appropriate.
