Dear Distinguished Gentlemen,

Greetings from the Philippines.

Been only 3 years in this great hobby and only joined twice in the nationals. Sad to say we don't really have a national organization to speak off but more of well spreaded out active rc communities in the country. Three months from now, our club will host a tournament fly-in and I do wish to introduce `combat' using 40-50 biplanes only. This has never been done before here in the PHI in a real competition. Actually most of us has this coroplast material biplane which sells really cheap ($50) and flies pretty good.

Do you have any rules on combat competition? Can you give any references. The only rule I know is that you attach a 15 or 20 feet crepe paper on the tail and try to cut it with your prop. Any tips, experiences, or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Most often our tournaments do suffer from inadquate or `not qualified' judges. A day before tournament date, I do plan to have a workshop with all interested judges and flyers to be conducted by 2 of our national best flyers who have had international exposures. Any tips and suggestions on this please? It will be conducted in the field with planes to be flown.

Also to add spice to the fun ambiance, I do intend to let flyers be addressed as "Captain" while on the field. I know this has never been done here before but I think it will give a more fun cannash to the event. The name of our event will "Tournament of Tikalons" or 'TOT'. Tikalon in our local dialect means: boastful, braggart, good BSer, etc.

We will be using your AMA rules and will have pattern, 3 fun fly events, pylon racing, 3D heli exhibitions, heli pattern exhibitions and bi-plane combat events. My full intention aside from giving a good tournament is when we invite them the next time, they will be dying to come at any expense. We have all support systems ready including of picking up their planes from the airport/pier/ and safekeeping the planes during the 3-day event.

Gentlemen, any suggestions and comments will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Cheers,

Chepit Dulay
Tournament Director, TOT :)
