Astigmatism

On a serious note, I don't know if cataracts or astigmatism cause 
multiple images, but, before surgery, if I put a small black ink dot on 
a piece of paper and looked at it with only my left eye, I saw four 
dots.  One was distinct and dark black, the remainder were fuzzy and 
gray.  When I did the same with my right eye, I saw two dots.  One was 
distinct and dark black, the other was fuzzy and gray.  When I opened 
both eyes,  I saw three dots.  One was distinct and dark black, the 
other two were fuzzy and gray.  When I looked at a white center pole at 
the flying field, I saw a distinct, white pole and two fuzzy white 
poles on either side.  My airplanes had fuzzy wings.  Cataract surgery 
cured all that.
