I have to post another reply to this because TODAY, during practice, the wind blew my wide-brim, WITH leather chinstrap BACK behind my head, forcing me to gag/choke. Of course, this occurred exactly at the Upline Snap in P-05...no kidding. VERY interesting airplane gyrations as my caller slams the hat back on top of my head, but at a HORIZONTAL angle whilst my head is turned UPWARD, thus blocking EVERYTHING.... MORE gyrations, but this time with laughter, because I'm choking AND blind....(It's not his fault, I'm quite sure the momentary glare off the top of my head was blinding him)
      Interesting flight!!!!!!!!!!!!

I left out the part about how it blows off in the middle of the maneuver you fear the most so you're flying REALLY high in the middle of the round you really need because of the 25 mph quartering gusting cross wind. Ball cap is a useful backup for this situation. Use the hat when not flying.

Cracker Barrel occasionally has a large brimmed hat with mesh sides and a cloth crown in their gift shops. Cost is around $20.

    Hi All,

I'm often surprised at what comes out of this list, thus the off-beat question. Is there a favorite large-brim hat in use to block out the sun? I've been using a beach hat at times (brim slopes down around the circle, not a flat brim). I need a new one.

    Thanks,
    Jim
