large brim hats?

Check out your local fishing store - Gander Mountain, Cabella's, or
equivalent mega-outdoors mart. Ask them for a "Bimini" fishing hat. A ball
cap style with an extra long bill. Also has a built in elastic cord and
clip for attaching to your collar. Solid front, mesh back, light weight
fabric. Originally saw it on fishing guides in the Florida Keys years ago.
Bought mine for boating/fishing, and now is the preferred flying hat. That
long bill does wonders to block just the sun, but leaves a very wide field
of view. No tendency to come off, ever - unless the wind speed starts to
approach 40mph, and you tip your head up while facing into the wind. And
you've got that safety strap. And at that wind speed, the last thing you
care getting back easily is the hat...

Subject: large brim hats?

Hi All,

I'm often surprised at what comes out of this list, thus the off-beat
question. Is there a favorite large-brim hat in use to block out the sun?
I've been using a beach hat at times (brim slopes down around the circle,
not a flat brim). I need a new one.

Thanks,
Jim
