Several years ago, when 4-strokes were mandatory to be considered a
"serious Pattern pilot", John Fuqua was flying a 2-stroke airplane. We
recorded 4-stroke engine noises on a small tape recorder/player.
During one round at the Nats, I placed the tape recorder/player behind
the judges and turned it on when John's airplane was in the air.

I explained to the judges that we wanted them to feel comfortable
hearing a 4-stroke during John's flight. For some reason, the judges
were not amused.
