Masters Reverse Avalanche

Last season, April, Pawnee Rock.... my original Arresti with "foam reinforced wing sockets", and the "short stubby tube" version....two serious flights of the Down 45 deg 1 1/2 snap, and someone walks up after landing and asks " How much dihedral do you have in that wing?" (he was not a pattern guy, and was innocent). As I lifted one tip, accompanied by the crunchy foam/balsa creaking noises, I knew it was OVER.
Under-designed, under-built, improperly assembled, and OVER-STRESSED airplanes will ALWAYS fail. It's a given.
But those same wings flew the ENTIRE balance of the season to six firsts in Masters....and a bit of practice flights between. And they're going strong still. My repair was what we would call "proper".
    It can be done.

I remember Joe Lachowski mentioning he bent an aluminum tube doing this maneuver, Joe, correct me if I'm wrong. I guess in our quest for light weight aircraft, we will reveal any structural deficiencies while performing ridiculous maneuvers. Troy's schedule was my vote then and even more so now. It had more grace and was less demanding in the power department. Looks like it might be safer too. You think the few pattern manufacturers left will be able to supply enough kits over the next 3 years ??

I *think*, and perhaps incorrectly recall that MANY folks protested this specific maneuver. Wonder who added it to the sequence that was proposed in the first place?

Wonder if CD's can publish a deviation from the sequence to avoid having contests that are "less than fun" for Masters guys?
Any AMA sanction/rule experts out there?
