Hi Dan,
The four-stroke 90 will not deliver enough power. The two-stroke 90 will need a pipe, to get 8-1/2 lbs to perform properly.
You've probably seen enough about the piped 90 setups in this forum.
I see that Scott has already offred a hand.
Regards,

Subject: Which Engine Should I use ???

I am going to be putting together an Exceleron 90. I have 2 different engine options. First is an OS FX91, second is an OS FS91 Surpass w/pump. Both are NIB. I have flow previous planes with a different 91FRX. I am good with engines so I am not worried about any finicky engine issues with either one. I have 2 two meter planes right now. This plane is one that I want to be able to get home from work, grab it and go. The 2 meter planes take a little bit more preparation to get them going quickly. I want the plane to fly well with a good power curve. I know that the 91FX will want to be flown a little bit faster, but how much I don't know. Also would the FS91 II Surpass be enough to fly the plane well. I will most likely be flying the intermediate pattern next year, so it doesn't have to be oh my God outrageous performance. But I don't want tit to be a dog either.

If there is anybody with any time on this plane that could shed some light on the situation it would be greatly appreciated.

Dan
