Did you turn down the carburettor boss to make a gap that's filled with vinyl?
If not, then it's an awfully thin bit of insulation that provided the desired effect.

To insulate the carb use liquid vinyl mixed with micro-balloons. Its tough, it stays on, and it helps keep the barrell and case at the same temperature for a better seal. Nat

Paradoxical? After 25 years i've mastered the two stroke; bearings, pistons and liners that last well over 1000 flights, insulated carb that provides consistent idle from T/O to landing,very long life on $2.50 glow plugs AND i'm going electric ?
