[NSRCA-discussion] sorry test (Attachment problem)

In this case the users e-mail program is set to HTML, and it is also
enclosing a plain text address file (Open the attachment to see what I
mean). Meant to try to ensure that the mail gets through, even if the in
between systems don't understand HTML. This just happens when using HTML
and usually is not an option to turn off. This double sending of
information is very common for e-mail. HTML is great for better formatting
and editing control - but since many e-mail servers are a bit old, they may
not be able to read the address to pass the message along. Hence the
belt-and-suspenders attempt to get it delivered. If the e-mail server reads
HTML and is configured properly, then it should just delete the unneeded
address attachment. That depends on what the service provider is willing to
do - it very likely is not something that the E-mail admin can do. And, it
is likely that the e-mail system depends on the second address and won't
pass along HTML unless it has it!

If the provider can't/won't make the change, you can either forego the use
of HTML, but not be able to do some of the formatting functions, or you can
ignore any "ATT??????.txt" attachments. Or, maybe, start a search for an
e-mail program that doesn't use this safety net approach - but I can't
advise there, as I prefer to just ignore it.

You have to tell your e-mail software to
compose and send "plain text."

I use an oddball e-mail program (Mulberry).

Here's a page that shows how to do it with
Outlook Express:
