Tom,
Your not invisible, just gray as in market (VBG).

The USA does not see or get all the products that it should either.

Ed,

Unfortunately down here we have to resort to DIY repairs if at all possible.
In Oz there is not ONE Futaba service agent that I am aware of-and if there
was, they would not be capable of working on anything other than a 2 channel
am set!!

The distributors ( don't get me started here!!) generally send all the 9Z's
straight to Japan for repairs.....BUT because I bought my system in
Singapore, I have become an invisible Futaba customer. Sending a set to Tony
or Japan privately costs HUNDREDS of dollars. I'll do that when I cant fix
something myself or with the assistance of Tony via e-mail.
Might I say the reason I HAD to buy my W/C 1 at the time was because THEY
(the distributors) could not be bothered to get me one in-nor could/would
they give me an estimate of when they would get them.

I had one from Singapore HS three days later. Now... I know that I was
directly responsible for the sale of at least TEN or more 9Z radios-once the
distributors eventually bothered to get them in. Even today... I still pay
for decals, not even a hat or T-shirt have I been offered.

So now what do I do....I have recently purchased one of the first 14MZ's to
arrive at our shores, through our beloved local distributors. Still
invisible-but at least if anything goes wrong with this baby-its back to
THEM.

Still waiting on some MZ decals, which I'll have to pay for, not that I
mind( don't even know if they exist???)

Thank heaven's people like Tony Stillman exist!

best regards

Tom

I recently tore into my 9Z WC2 to replace a broken
antenna (don't ask!), because someone on the Futaba
forum suggested that's what's needed to get the job
done. Came across several layers of PC borards, the
lithium battery Verne mentioned on the sub-board,
easy access to the gimbal springs (which I replaced),
etc., etc., - only to discover in the end that the
antenna attachment could easily be accomplished
working through the battery compartment - all without
undoing a single screw on the housing!

Great learning experience though.....Talk about "fear
factor"!
