I can remember paying $0.11 per gallon at a gas war and cig's were $0.35 a pack .

  I remember 15.6 cents a gallon for regular leaded about that time frame.  I could fill up my car (austin heally sprite) for $2.00; maybe $2.50 in-between price wars.
