I run the ES carbon exhaust on my DZ160 and it work good. Noise level is
good, I feel its under the FAI and AMA limits, but it depends on prop and
rpm you will run. I also used the 698 and its good as well, its just
heavier. I feel the ES may give a little better performance.

My first ES pipe failed a year ago after a full season on a YS140 at a
contest in Kentucky. ES replaced pipe and that is the pipe I am currently
using.

The YS140DZ and YS160DZ seem to have cooler exhaust gas temp, and is not as
hard on pipe life (resin on composite material). This is probably due to
not trying to get all you can get out of engine rpm wise. I have full flying
season on the pipe with a DZ140 and starting this season with an YS160 and
it is starting to show a little wear, but is still good. With the current
setup, maybe 3 seasons with the ES pipe.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me from experience what their thoughts are about this ES
carbon exhaust system?

I plan to use it in a DZ160 setup. Are they holding up or are they good for
only a few hundred flights?

How is the noise compared to a Hatori 698 for example?

And lastly what is the weight of this pipe? Central Hobbies don't have this
information on their website.

Thanks

Peter
