All,
I have heard a lot of stories about problems with LiPo battery packs.
I don't profess to be anywhere near as knowledgeable as many out there, however, I do have some experience in this area. The only time I have ever had problems with my packs is when I either discharge them at a rate much higher than recommended or charge them in the same manner.
I have ruined four Kokum packs doing just that.
Learning my lesson was expensive, but it was learned.
I have four packs that I use strictly on my foamies. In charging them I stick to the recommended charge rate and have never had them get more than a slightly warm to the touch. The only problem I have ever had, since my learning process, is that when I fly in windy conditions I use more WOT, to bring the plane back against the wind, and that is when the packs have gotten to warm and have swelled a little. I tend to bring the plane in early when I know the wind is getting too strong to safely use the batteries.
Stating again that I am not nearly as experienced as many of you, still, having somewhere between 200 and 250 flights on this batch of foamy aircraft, in the last 6 months, I have a little experience.

Ken
