Diamond stab cross section - Dean Pappas

I wonder if the diamond airfoil really worked. If it worked so well, why don't people still use that feature?
 
Speaking of that, remember the anhedral stabs? I think Hanno Prettner started it, won the world champs with one. Next thing you know, everyone had anhedral stabs. I remember some people saying that if you did not have anhedral in your stab, you weren't competitive.
 
I remember hearing years later that the main reason Prettner used anhedral in the stab was because his new design did not fly well and needed the stab lowered. Was easier to cut it and bend it down. Don't know for sure if that is true, but was believable.
 
Trike gear. Retracts. I remember people saying there is no way you would be competitive with a fixed-gear taildragger. BLASPHEMY!!!
 
And then the big one: FOUR-STROKES ARE GOING TO RUIN THE HOBBY!!!
 
I thought it was interesting that the planes were never 2m in size, until there was a 2m limit imposed. Then everyone came out with a 2m design!
 
Well, I guess that is enough fuel for the forum. :-)
