Gear fixin should be okay. I fabricated some ply triangles that have been installed on edge, vertically, tying the plate to the fuse sides, notched for the doubler. Used four of them, spaced about 3/4" between, both sides, starting from the front of the ply plate.
Appreciate the heads up about the potential trouble spot...thanks!

I'm not sure that "just" ca will fix the problem. These fixed gear mounts
that are designed an inch or so from the bottom of the fuse can be
disastrous when they let go and many of the current designs are not
terrifically well reinforced. On my Exceleron I epoxied a length of maple
motor mount wood to the joint where the side of the fuse and the L.G. block
contact each other. The front edge of the L.G. plate is then screwed into
this rail.I do not expect this plate to fail !!!
