In fair play to all the AMA should count the votes.

  Subject: NSRCA Election

I just wanted the membership to know what is happening concerning the NSRCA election. As most members know, this is a very hotly contested election for President and Vice President. With four popular candidates running, there is going to be a close vote.

The problem is, that even though the NSRCA bylaws clearly state that an impartial third party outside the NSRCA SHOULD receive and count the votes (should not shall), some people are trying to get the votes received and counted by the current NSRCA Secretary.

In our last contested election, the AMA received and counted the NSRCA ballots. I talked with Steve Kaluf at the AMA and they would be happy to again provide this service free of charge and in a timely manner. This is a service they provide to all SIG groups when requested.

My fear is that, no matter how faithfully the NSRCA Secretary counts the ballots, there will be an enormous controversy in this close election. As of now, two of the candidates are protesting this counting procedure. This could be a big enough problem that it could split the organization when we need unity the most to meet our upcoming challenges.

There is no reason not to use the AMA and doing so will keep our group together and avoid needless problems. Just so everyone knows, I am running for NSRCA Treasurer but am doing so unopposed. I have no real personal stake in this procedure except to deeply want what is best for the NSRCA.

If you feal the same way, please let Tony Stillman know at tony at radiosouthrc.com

  Thanks,
  Frank Granelli D-1 VP
