Wood props for 1.40 pattern birds?

The wood props do not have the ability have the deep pitches of 12 and 14
that are standard on the APC props. As a result a larger diameter must be
used, which can be a problem. The wood grain nature of the prop also does
not allow for better tip shaping, reducing efficiency and causing alot of
noise. The answer seem to be the CF props, that appeared a couple of years
ago, but it seems that there are not so many anymore.

Subject: Wood props for 1.40 pattern birds?
Has anyone tried stock wood propellers on 1.40's and found that they can
live with the performance compromises from composites? Just wondering
because of the desire for light weight aircraft.
Thanks,
