You can't get there from here! 

Probably easiest to take 290 to 77 which combines with 190 near Temple and loops around to 36 on the west side of town. (MapPoint doesn't find any construction.) I've tried the 290 to I-35 route but, besides being longer, the traffic on 35 is usually heavy.

  For houston fliers:  what route do you take from NW houston (290) to Temple, TX?  Should I stay on 290 all the way to I-35 (Austin), or take what looks like a bit of a short cut on US-77 north to rt. 36, into Temple?
