Radio South Pro Driver Mk III

Paul ,

I got one at Toledo and have not used it at the field. Of course I
had to open it up to and see what was inside and to find out if what
the power supply voltage was and if it could be charged from any
4.8 Volt flight-pack charger. I noticed that the batteries were just
lying on top of the pc board without any extra insulation between
it and the sharp ends of the soldered ends of the components.
I suspect that the batteries, lying loose on the back of the pc board,
shorted out through the thin insulation on the cut soldered joints
of the components. I used a heavy layer of shrink material to wrap
the batteries in to provide a little better safety margin against having
a short created because of the batteries rubbing against the back of the
pc board. Hope this will help.
