Hi Dave,

 

I only just woke up hence the delay in my response (live in bottom part of
the world)

 

I simply use long nose pliers to remove the fitting. I get one side of the
pliers on the part of the spring which is exposed. Simply squeeze a little
and pull it off. Never had a problem.
