Hello Mike,
I don't know what is actually necessary, but here's what I have done for
both the O.S. and Mintor headers.I need to send a digital photo from home to
your address. Does anyone know if this list accepts inserted or attached
jpegs?
I support the far end of the header with a pedestal made from 1/2" diameter
cylindrical rubber (Lord) mount, and a plastic Dave Brown pipe clamp. For
height, I use a portion of the nylon standoff that comes in the pipe to
wingbolt mounting kit. The ty-wrap or hose clamp goes around the front of
the rubber coupler to the pipe, so it does double duty, and helps keep the
header from pulling off of the engine. A picture of this should show up in
the May M.A.
Regards,
Dean P.

Subject: Help with Pipe mount
Howdy All,
I am coming down the home stretch on my Focus version 1. I got the
engine box cut down and rebuilt for my engine mount/engine. It used to
have a DB hard mount and now has a Hyde A mount. The motor is a Mintor
1.70 with a Mintor 60 degree header/Mintor carbon pipe. It all fits
beautiful in the plane. I am getting ready to put my pipe mounts in.
The question is should I put a support for the header as well as the
pipe? The header is the "O" ring type mount to the engine, silicon
pipe/header connector. Any help would be much appreciated.
