I cannot recall ever having someone shot down at the RRCC. We also have a frequecy board where the flyer puts his pin with name and frequency he is to use. The pin matches, that is 14 on 14........So from the flight line...with good eyes you can see who is up on what frequency....except in Lance's case where he puts a pin marked 24 on 14 and then expects everyone else to understand, that since his 24 is on the 14 spot, it must be 14. We do have extra, free pins, so everyone can comply....Lance just refuses to.
The embarassing part is the frequency call (yell) out...some are more exuberant than others...I have actually heard....

  "25!!!! 25!!!............then someone else......"HUT HUT!"

Me..I yell...Lance...take your 24 off of my 14..when you are not flying.

Cannot reccomend the yelling deal as it is very annoying when you are practicing.....we have more than one yell mode at the RRCC other favorites include but are not limited to

          1. Are you okay? (question posed to you to see if it is okay for some guy to take off...usually happens during a K-4-and if you do not answer it WILL be repeated until you do answer-otherwise they assume you are about to crash-Why else would you be upside down?)
          2. Are you okay? (see #1, but for landing)
          3. Touch and Go! (a popular event on a Sunday-can be very dangerous-gotta learn to duck and fly)
          4. Explicatives uttered by Tom T. when he is visiting-those I seem to understand

"One of the more pro-active measures I have seen in place is what Gray's club
in Richardson Texas does. They shout out the frequency they are about to
turn on. May sound kinda silly at first but I am sure they haven't had many
if any planes shot down because of freq. conflicts. Not to sure it would be
a good idea shouting out at a contest while someone is flying but it works
  for the RRC/Club.
