Question on wing tube lengths

Hi,
I have planes 15 years old with 6" tube (since 1992 European Championship). The load should be distributed equally along the tube not just at the root and at the end of the tube !!! I transfer the load to the top and bottom sheets with Balsa spar and reinforce the sheets locally with 2 OZ carbon that's all !
Saving weight can lead to loss of aircraft but adding weight will too. If the plane is too heavy it is worthless and diet program for pattern plane are very expensive

Remember that shaving weight can lead to loss of aircraft. Can count on 2 hands all models I've witnessed lost d/t shaving weight. Granted some areas are more critical than others.

Wow! that's really short. I guess you must be using some kind of spar arrangement to spread the load at the end of the tube? I am stuck with the 3/4" wide carbon fiber cloth spars on top and bottom in front of and behind the wing tube because this experimental wing has already been sheeted. I could start from scratch but that would make this experiment too time consuming and its already interrupting the building of my Symphony.
I've now gotten recommendations at both ends of the spectrum so I've decided to compromise and trim a bit from both ends. This leaves the tube at 9" into each wing, which still seems pretty safe. Especially considering Mike that only uses 6".
Man, if 6" is all you need, then we could all be saving some weight here.

Hi,
Theoretically you need 3 times the diameter to transfer the moment. I go 6D into the wing (about 15 cm) and never had any problems
