On my Mintor 170 / Mintor carbon pipe I am getting 8100 on a APC 17x13
standard. I have almost 9 gallons through the motor and it runs like a
swiss watch.

Subject: Re: Engine RPM and load
I don't have much to chime in about. The engine is very happy between 7900
and 8300 (the ranges I run on the high end). I don't have any experience
propping down to 6800 and would worry about over heating, but I can't
comment with accuracy.
Wayne's numbers are pretty common on the 170. I would expect a 17x12
regular to turn between 8100 and 8300. My 17x12 regular turns 8150 and teh
15.75x11x3 turns the exact same. If you're not getting this, but the
engine runs fine, then maybe the pipe/header are choking. I have no
experience to compare the 590r to the other pipes.
