Larry,

not critical they both go to the same chamber in the motor...so either one works.

    With the engine upright and viewed from the back, the right nipple goes to the tank through the check valve, the left goes to the regulator.  

    I don't believe it is really all that critcal. Eric Henderson plugged one of the nipples and used a TEE in the other line to drive both the regulator and tank pressure. The area behind the motor can get crowded and this helps clean it up a little.
