Removing crankshaft on YS140L

I'm trying to remove the crankshaft on a YS140L in
order to inspect the rear bearing.  I'm having trouble
removing the disc retainer screw which holds the disc
valve assy to the crankshaft.  When I try to turn the
screw it creaks and feels like it's going to snap. 
Any help would be appreciated.
