Dear Tony

Currently there is no clear rule on the weight issue. One can use the argument that an IC-powered F3A model aircraft is processed and weighed dry, the fuel being the energy source. By the same token, an electric-powered model aircraft should be weighed dry, i.e. without its energy source (battery pack). Both may end up weighing more in ready-to-fly state.

I am seeking clarification/approval from the CIAM Bureau for us to be allowed a "local rule" situation with regards to the weight issue. I will respond in the next few days on the outcome.

Best regards

Bob

  Steve/Bob:
I had heard that a new rule is now in effect that allows any F3A model using electric motors for power are allowed to weighed WITHOUT the battery pack.
I would like to verify this.
