servo selections

When to get better servos? You do not need to be very good to notice a
servo induced, out of trim airplane. If you ever wonder why the plane
drifts to the right on one pass, then the left on another, or climbs going
one way, descends going the other, or needs constant trim adjustments, then
your servos are to blame. You should be able to notice this type of
behavior by the middle of your first season in sportsman. The price of
digital servos has come way down and is really, the only consideration you
should have (.60 plane - 2M plane). In truth, you really don't save any
money flying a smaller plane. The servo requirements are the same, the
engine prices can be roughly equivalent given the wide range to select, and
there are inexpensive 2M ARF or ARC's you can go with.
My 0.02 cents,
Jim W.

I totally agree with John on all his assertions. If you can tell the
differences in servos, use the best. Otherwise, don't waste your
money. I use an inexpensive, but quality FMA PS 105 MG servo on
throttle and have never had any idle problems with it. However, I did
use a Futaba S133 a few years back and experienced throttle idle jitter
because it just wasn't robust enough to handle the loads it
experienced.
